Green Jobs Fest 2026: Empowering Youth to Explore Green Careers

Amid the growing momentum of the green economy, non-profit organizations Green Jobs Seasoldier and Koaksi Indonesia are hosting the Green Jobs Fest 2026 throughout April. The festival, which takes place across Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya, features a variety of engaging events, most notably the workshop titled “Draw Your Future Green Career.”

Facilitated by the non-profit organization Green Jobs Career Indonesia (GJCI), this workshop brings together professionals from diverse backgrounds. This approach provides participants with a broader and more comprehensive perspective on the landscape of green jobs—careers centered on environmentally friendly sectors—within Indonesia.

Beyond traditional discussions, the session invites participants to actively map their skills against the requirements of various green industries. “This workshop aims to provide essential information about green careers while helping participants align their expertise with current industry demands. By utilizing a creative medium like zine-making, we make the process more fun and interactive,” explained GJCI Founder Azizah Zurinada in a press release on Tuesday (April 28).

According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, green jobs encompass roles that actively protect ecosystems, improve energy efficiency, minimize waste, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support climate change adaptation efforts.

The potential for these roles in Indonesia is significant. Based on estimates from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the development of renewable energy power plants outlined in the PLN Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) for 2025-2030 alone has the potential to create approximately 760,000 green jobs.

Through the collaborations formed at this festival, GJCI hopes to inspire more young people to confidently embark on their own sustainable career journeys and contribute to Indonesia’s greener future.
