The Indonesian National Police (Polri) is set to expand its food security infrastructure by establishing 28 specialized warehouses across the archipelago. This initiative aims to optimize harvest yields and ensure stable food distribution nationwide, as announced by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
Currently, the Police force has successfully developed 18 storage facilities located on police-owned land across 12 provinces. These facilities are part of a strategic partnership with Perum Bulog, designed to accommodate the growing volume of agricultural yields throughout the country.
General Listyo Sigit Prabowo highlighted this development during the second quarter of the national corn harvest ceremony held in Tuban, East Java. “We have conducted a simultaneous groundbreaking for 10 additional food security warehouses, which will bring the total number of police-managed food storage units to 28,” he stated in an official release dated Saturday, May 16, 2026. The groundbreaking ceremony for these 10 new facilities was officially led by President Prabowo Subianto, who also presided over the launch of 166 police-operated agricultural support stations (SPPG).
Regarding storage capacity, each of the new standard warehouses is designed to hold 1,000 tons of commodities. Furthermore, a larger facility with a 10,000-ton capacity is scheduled for completion in June 2026. While the primary focus currently lies on corn, these warehouses are also intended to store rice and various other essential food commodities to maintain regional supply stability.
The Police Chief emphasized that this infrastructure expansion underscores the commitment of the National Police to support a comprehensive agricultural ecosystem. The force remains dedicated to overseeing the entire process, from upstream to downstream operations, which includes land preparation, seed procurement, planting, crop maintenance, and ensuring the absorption of harvest yields to support national food security.
