North Sumatra Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Ferry Walintukan confirmed the seizure of a significant volume of illicit items, including 937.71 grams of marijuana, 491.76 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 76.50 ecstasy pills, and four vape devices containing etomidate. “Our personnel have targeted the entire narcotics network, ranging from individual users to dealers and major kingpins. We are focusing our efforts on dismantling the locations that have long served as hubs for drug activity,” Ferry stated in an official release on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The operation was divided into strategic categories, with 54 individuals identified as primary targets. From these high-priority apprehensions alone, police confiscated 148.39 grams of crystal meth, 181.70 grams of marijuana, 35.50 ecstasy pills, and the four etomidate-laced vapes.
Furthermore, authorities successfully cleared 55 cases involving 83 suspects across designated target operational areas. In these specific zones, police seized 300.24 grams of crystal meth, 407.20 grams of marijuana, and five ecstasy pills. “A notable success occurred in the Mandailing Natal region, where we secured evidence totaling 166.25 grams of crystal meth and 211.50 grams of marijuana,” Ferry noted.
Rounding out the operation, police arrested 42 suspects in 25 cases that fell outside the primary target list, seizing 43.13 grams of crystal meth, 348.51 grams of marijuana, and 36 ecstasy pills. “The North Sumatra Police remain committed to expanding these enforcement efforts. This is a definitive step toward safeguarding our community, especially the younger generation, from the persistent threats posed by drug abuse,” concluded Ferry.
