PERTAMINA Patra Niaga has announced an extension of operating hours at various Public Fuel Stations (SPBU) in Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan. This strategic move aims to mitigate the prevalent vehicle queues for fuel refilling that have been observed recently.
“We are extending our operating hours until 01:00 AM Western Indonesian Time,” stated Donny Prasetya, Sales Area Manager Retail Kalteng for Pertamina Patra Niaga, in Palangka Raya on Friday, May 8, 2026, as reported by Antara.
Donny further elaborated that based on their current evaluation, the primary cause for these extensive fuel queues is a simultaneous surge in demand for both Pertalite and Pertamax. This situation is believed to have prompted some consumers, who typically prioritize Pertamax, to react to rumors concerning potential stock limitations or impending price adjustments.
“To address this, we are proactively working to stabilize the situation by increasing fuel supply to SPBUs. Specifically for Pertamax, the normal daily allocation for Palangka Raya is 190 KL, but we have now boosted this to 200 KL per day, as previously communicated,” he explained.
Pertamina is actively engaging in intensive coordination and collaboration with the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and other relevant stakeholders. Together, they are implementing measures on the ground to alleviate the long queues at fuel refilling stations.
Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran affirmed that his administration is continuously striving to normalize the fuel queuing situation that has occurred in recent times. “We have requested an increase in the fuel quota for Central Kalimantan to tackle the current circumstances,” the governor added.
The provincial government is also in the process of coordinating and proposing legal frameworks for small-scale retail fuel outlets. This initiative is intended as another crucial effort to decentralize fuel distribution and effectively reduce vehicle congestion at mainstream SPBUs.
