President Prabowo Subianto has officially requested the state-owned defense company PT Pindad to design a specialized presidential vehicle for his public visits. The President envisions a “transparent” car featuring a glass-based design, allowing the public to see him more clearly during his tours and interactions with citizens.
“I am currently thinking about asking Pindad to try and design a special presidential car using glass,” Prabowo stated during the operational inauguration of 1,061 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday (16/5). The event was broadcast live via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.
PT Pindad is a prominent state-owned enterprise (BUMN) operating in manufacturing, services, and trade within the defense, security, and industrial sectors. The company’s portfolio includes weaponry, ammunition, specialized vehicles, heavy equipment, industrial tools, transportation infrastructure, mining services, and cyber security. Notably, Pindad is also the manufacturer of the “Maung,” the tactical vehicle currently utilized as Prabowo’s official state car.
The request for a transparent vehicle was voiced by Prabowo during his working visit to Nganjuk and Tuban in East Java today. He noted the overwhelming enthusiasm of local residents who gathered to welcome him, with many having waited for long periods along his travel route.
“There are so many people out on the streets; it wouldn’t be right for the president to stay hidden inside the vehicle. I felt compelled to stand,” he remarked. The Chairman of the Gerindra Party also mentioned that many citizens were eager to shake his hand, prompting him to reach out and greet them directly.
“I want a car that has a seat, but one where I am visible as if I am standing. That should be allowed, right? Look, I am already 75 years old. I feel for the people who have waited so long, but I remain full of spirit,” he added.
East Java Working Visit
President Prabowo’s itinerary in East Java today includes three major agendas across Nganjuk and Tuban. This working visit focuses heavily on strengthening the grassroots economy and bolstering national food security.
In Nganjuk Regency, Prabowo inaugurated the Ibu Marsinah Museum and a Halfway House. These facilities are expected to serve as educational spaces to reinforce the values of social struggle while demonstrating the government’s commitment to community welfare.
Furthermore, the President launched the operations of 1,061 Merah Putih Village and Sub-district Cooperatives. This program is a strategic step by the government to empower the village-based economy through the development of productive and integrated cooperative systems.
Following the events in Nganjuk, the President traveled to Tuban Regency to attend the Simultaneous Corn Grand Harvest for the second quarter of 2026. This agenda is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain agricultural productivity and secure national food stability amidst global challenges.
Accompanying President Prabowo on his flight to East Java were several high-ranking officials, including State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Chief of Presidential Staff Dudung Abdurachman, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono.
Summary
President Prabowo Subianto has requested that the state-owned defense company, PT Pindad, design a specialized vehicle with a transparent glass structure for his public visits. This initiative aims to allow citizens to see him more clearly during his tours, as the President expressed a desire to greet the public directly rather than remaining hidden inside a traditional car.
The request follows the President’s recent working visit to East Java, where he observed large crowds waiting along his route to welcome him. In addition to addressing logistical needs for public interactions, the visit focused on strengthening the grassroots economy and national food security, including the launch of over 1,000 village cooperatives and a major corn harvest in Tuban.
